LADIES AND GENTILMEN: ALL ABOARD ON LV EXPRESS TO SHANGAI!
Louis Vuitton celebrated its 20th year in China with a four-story “maison” in Shanghai, which is the largest store in China officially opening in Shanghai’s Plaza 66 office and commercial complex today.
The store, designed by architect Peter Marino, is the brand’s 16th flagship store around the world. It is spread across four floors and seeing visitors attended to by more than 100 staff members. The store’s top floor, where the customized bags are ordered, is the store’s invitation-only area for the brand’s most important customers. Called the “apartment”, which consists of two VIP rooms, a lounge, a kitchen and a bathroom with a heated bidet toilet. Like the rest of the store, the floor features contemporary art and designer furniture by foreign and Chinese artists.
Last thursday Louis Vuitton marked the arrival of the Louis Vuitton Express in Shanghai after its trip from Paris. As the clock striked nine, steam begun rising from underneath the runway gates. The models in Louis Vuitton’s latestfall/winter women’s collection descended from the train the show had started, followed by uniformed, white-gloved porters lugging their bags.
The event paid homage to the art of travel, a key theme for the French design house, as they marked the opening of a Louis Vuitton store at Shanghai’s Plaza 66 with a host of style people including London girls Poppy Delevigne and Alexa Chung, French film star Clémence Poésy, iconic French actor Alain Delon, French model Laetitia Casta, in a bondage-inspired bustier dress from the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection, and Chinese fashion and film stars such as, Fan Bingbing and Gong Li.
